Rooibos Tea Cranberry 50g, tea bags
Chez Nous – at home – can be read on the van der Westhuizen family's property entrance.
A piece of French homeland in South Africa? French roots can be found everywhere around Cape Town, but here in Clanwilliam, 230 km north of Cape Town, it is rather unusual.
Corné van der Westhuizen grew up as the youngest son of Franz van der Westhuizen on the Klipfontein farm, where rooibos has been grown for generations.
In order to further expand existing markets and to develop new ones, Corné traveled the world.
In France he met his wife Lydia, who grew up in Nice, on the beautiful Côte d'Azur.
They moved to South Africa together and have been running the Krieberg Farm since 2018.
Corné takes care of the farm, Lydia takes care of the marketing and sales of her brand Cederbos.
Together they work on new rooibos tea blends and flavors that should particularly appeal to French tastes.
Chez Nous - at home - preserving a piece of French homeland in far-off South Africa.
is probably the oldest seal of quality that stands for the culinary arts of French cuisine. In France, people not only know how to eat well, they also know how to drink well.
The Cederbos Rooibos flavors come from Lydia's French culinary inspirations, constantly looking for new compositions. This is how the Rooibos creations like:
- Chocolate orange,
- Vanilla almond,
- Maple walnut or
- Honey lemon
A wellness herbal tea mixture has been announced for 2023.
I can't wait to see what Lydia will surprise us with. Maybe rooibos tea with lavender or chestnut flavor?
I wish the young family the best of luck, so that the rooibos finds more and more fans. Not only in France.
How do I prepare the rooibos tea?
For best results, use two Cederbos tea bags in a pot, brew with enough hot tea (not boiling) for four cups, steep for 10-15 minutes, then strain into mugs to serve.
For a quick cup of rooibos tea, pour boiling water into a cup, then add a cederbos tea bag and steep for 3 to 5 minutes before enjoying.
The Cederbos tea range can be enjoyed hot or cold, with a slice of lemon or other fruit of your choice, and combined with fruit juice and ice for a refreshing iced tea.

Rooibos (aka "Roy Boss") is native to the beautiful Cederberg region of the Western Cape of South Africa, where the unique climate of the Cederberg Mountains provides the perfect conditions for this herb to thrive.
Rooibos was first discovered by the Khoisan, an indigenous Bushman tribe of southern Africa. The Khoisan people use the rooibos leaves as a natural remedy for many ailments.
In 1772, a Swedish naturalist named Carl Thunberg noticed that locals were making tea from the plant, and it wasn't long before Dutch settlers in the Cape began enjoying rooibos as an alternative to the expensive black tea imported from Europe.
Its popularity has increased over time, but the traditional way of growing Rooibos remains: During the natural fermentation process, bees are attracted to the colorful and aromatic tea leaves. It is this tea of selected nature that we pick at Cederbos to bring you a delicious cup of Rooibos.
Rooibos is naturally caffeine free and rich in antioxidants.
