Preparing a tea infusion with cold water?

Cold brew teas have been specially developed for preparation with cold water. By using cold water you get a different composition of the extracted flavors and therefore a different taste than brewing with hot water.

The extracted aromas result in a milder, more subtle-tasting tea.

Carmién offers 4 delicious flavors:

  • Cranberry Hibiscus,
  • Apple Mint
  • Apricot Blossoms
  • Coco Pine.

Preparation

COLD INFUSED TEA

Put 1 tea bag and approx. 250 ml of cold or room temperature water in a jug, water bottle or travel mug and let the tea bags steep for a minimum of 10 minutes and a maximum of 30 minutes.

Remove the tea bag and enjoy the tea with or without ice cubes.

Store refrigerated and consume within 24 hours.

Optional serving suggestions:

Add fruit juice or honey/sugar if you prefer a sweeter iced tea. Garnish with mint, cucumber or fresh lemon slices.

What is Stevia?

Stevia is a genus in the Asteraceae family. It includes around 240 species of aromatic herbs or shrubs, some of which contain natural sweeteners, most notably Stevia eupatoria and Stevia rebaudiana, known by the generic name Stevia.

This plant, originally from South America, grows wild in prairies or mountain ranges in a semi-arid climate. Its low carbohydrate content makes it a food substitute for sucrose. In addition, its negligible effect on blood sugar levels makes it a compatible sweetener for diabetic diets and hypoglycemic diets.

The leaves of this species have an average sweetening power 300 times greater than that of sucrose, ordinary sugar, or table sugar.
