For the very first time, Carmién Tea took part in the prestigious 4th Teas of the World Contest, organized by AVPA, the Agency for the Promotion of Agricultural Products. The award ceremony took place in Paris on October 19, 2021 and was broadcast worldwide.
The AVPA Tea Contest is unique in its kind and is based on gastronomic rather than standardized judging. Carmién Tea competed in the areas of infusions (infusion plants other than Camellia Sinensis), blends and flavored teas.
We took part in this competition to introduce and present our Rooibos products on the French and European markets. It was also an opportunity to compete with other international tea companies in terms of our quality and superiority, especially when it comes to Rooibos.
We faced stiff competition as we went up against more than 200 tea entries from no fewer than 33 countries including Malaysia, Japan, France, Croatia, Madagascar, Iran, Russia, Taiwan, Ukraine, Greece, and Vietnam Colombia.
We feel honored and very pleased to have received two awards. We were 1 of 75 Gourmet Paris winners and 1 of 25 Silver winners.
We received the Paris Gourmet Award for our Carmién Turkish Delight Green Rooibos Tea, a refreshing blend of green rooibos and rose petals with a delicate rose flavor reminiscent of Turkish Delight.
In the tasteless infusions category, we received a silver medal for our blend of organic rooibos and honeybush.
This achievement not only reflects the quality of the Rooibos products we manufacture, but also the hard work that all of our employees have put into the creation and development of these amazing Carmién Rooibos products.
HOT INFUSED TEA
Use 1 tea bag for approx. 250-300 ml for an infusion and brew the tea bag with boiling water in a cup or teapot. Let the rooibos tea blend steep for 5-10 minutes, depending on the intensity of taste you want.
Depending on your taste preferences, you can add a little milk, honey or sugar or a fresh lemon slice to the infused rooibos tea mixture.
The best drinking temperature is 60° C, but rooibos tea is always a delicious drink when chilled or drunk as an iced tea.
COLD INFUSED TEA
Put 2 tea bags and approx. 250-300 ml of cold water in a jug, water bottle or travel mug and let the tea bags steep for at least 10 minutes. You can also leave the tea bags in the tea water until drinking.
For a stronger overnight infusion, leave the tea bags in the infusion and/or add additional tea bags.
Store refrigerated and consume within 24 hours.
Optional serving suggestions:
Add fruit juice or honey/sugar if you prefer a sweeter iced tea. Garnish with mint and/or a fresh lemon wedge.
What is the effect of rose petal tea?
Even the Turks valued the positive effects of rose petals on body and soul, whether used as rose oil perfume or drunk as infused rose petals for tea.
In terms of taste, the rose blossom tea develops a subtly sweet and fruity taste, which allows a Turkish-dreamy momentum to be experienced thanks to the rooibos with its slightly sweet, earthy and peaty taste.
The essential oils in particular, especially citronellol and geraniol, have a relaxing effect.
In addition, the oils contain antioxidants, such as flavonoids, which have anti-inflammatory and anticonvulsant effects.
