Organic Buchu Rooibos Tea 40g, tea bags
Buchu Tea with Rooibos – Buchu character on a mild Rooibos base
Buchu and Rooibos both come from South Africa’s Western Cape, yet in the cup they take very different directions. Buchu feels cool, distinctive and aromatic, often with hints of mint, blackcurrant and a lightly herbal freshness. Rooibos brings calmness, roundness and a soft, earthy base. That is exactly what makes this blend so interesting.
Anyone who finds pure Buchu intriguing, but would like a more approachable introduction, will discover a very balanced style here. The Rooibos does not take away Buchu’s character, but supports it. The result is not harsh or sharp, but clear, balanced and pleasantly rounded.
Why Buchu and Rooibos work so well together
Buchu is strongly shaped by its natural oils and its distinctive leaf aroma. Rooibos, by contrast, does not bring a cool sharpness, but mildness, warmth and quiet depth. In this blend, Rooibos does not mute the typical Buchu notes, but allows them to come through in a more ordered and harmonious way.
That is why this tea is not simply “everything in one”, but a clearly defined style: more characterful than pure Rooibos, yet softer and rounder than pure Buchu.
How this blend tastes
At first, the infusion feels mild and rounded. Then the typical Buchu notes begin to unfold – fresh, lightly minty, gently reminiscent of blackcurrant and with a fine herbal touch. Rooibos gives the blend a warm, soft centre and ensures that the Buchu character does not dominate, but is carried through the cup.
That makes this tea especially appealing to anyone who enjoys herbal teas with individuality, but prefers a more harmonious and everyday-friendly form.
Directly from Skimmelberg
This tea comes from Skimmelberg in the Cederberg. The farm stands for organic Buchu and Rooibos products from South Africa and connects origin, cultivation and processing in a way that can be recognised in the cup. That matters especially with a blend like this: it lives from balance, leaf quality and a clear understanding of both plants.
HOT INFUSION:
Pour about 250 ml of 90 °C hot water over one teabag in a cup or teapot and leave to steep for 4–10 minutes, depending on taste.
The longer the tea steeps, the more clearly the typical Buchu notes come through.
You can also infuse the tea more than once.
Enjoy it plain or refine it with a little milk, honey, sugar or a slice of lemon, if you wish. The most pleasant drinking temperature is around 60 °C.
This tea also remains a pleasure when enjoyed cold.
