Organic Rooibos Buchu Tea 50g, tea bags
Organic Rooibos Tea with Buchu – mild Rooibos with a fine Buchu lift
In this blend, Rooibos leads – not Buchu. That is the key difference. Rooibos provides the soft, rounded and calm base for which it is appreciated. Buchu adds only a light accent: a little freshness, a little herbal character and a hint of blackcurrant. That is exactly why this blend does not feel cool and strongly marked like a Buchu-led tea, but mild, harmonious and only gently sharpened by Buchu.
If you already enjoy pure Rooibos but would like a slightly more interesting variation without stepping straight into a pronounced Buchu profile, this is a very approachable introduction. Rooibos stays in the foreground, while Buchu simply lifts it slightly.
Why Rooibos and Buchu feel different here than in the reverse ratio
Rooibos and Buchu both come from South Africa’s Western Cape, yet they behave very differently in the cup. Buchu is cool, aromatic and immediately recognisable. Rooibos, by contrast, feels soft, rounded and calm. In a blend with a high Rooibos content, that mild Rooibos base remains clearly present, while Buchu mainly adds freshness and direction.
That is why this tea is not simply a softer version of Buchu with Rooibos, but a different style altogether: Rooibos-led, easy to enjoy every day, and only lightly accented by Buchu.
How this blend tastes
At first, the infusion feels soft and rounded. Then the lighter Buchu notes begin to appear – fresh, gently herbal and subtly reminiscent of blackcurrant. Rooibos nevertheless remains the carrying centre of the cup. That makes this blend especially appealing to anyone who loves Rooibos but would like a little more tension and individuality in the profile.
If you are looking for a more clearly Buchu-driven direction, you would be better off with Buchu-led blends. If you want Rooibos with a clear but gentle accent, this is the right place to start.
Directly from Skimmelberg
This tea comes from Skimmelberg in the Cederberg. The farm stands for organic Buchu and Rooibos products from South Africa and connects origin, cultivation and processing in a way you can recognise in the cup. That matters especially with a blend like this: it lives from fine balance rather than strong effects. Skimmelberg presents this blend as organic Rooibos with Buchu, naturally caffeine-free and CERES-certified. :contentReference[oaicite:2]{index=2}
