Organic Wild Harvest Rooibos Tea 50g, tea bags
Wild-harvested Rooibos Tea
Wild-harvested Rooibos is not an ordinary Rooibos tea. It does not come from a conventional plantation, but from its natural habitat deep in the Cederberg mountains. That is exactly what makes it special: this Rooibos carries not only the signature of South Africa, but also the calm and austerity of the landscape it comes from.
In the cup, wild-harvested Rooibos feels soft, rounded and clear, yet at the same time a little more original than many familiar everyday Rooibos teas. Anyone who appreciates Rooibos for its gentle, naturally caffeine-free character will discover here a rare form in which origin and plant character come much more to the fore.
Why this Rooibos is only available in limited quantities
Wild-harvested Rooibos is not a product that can be sourced in unlimited volumes. Skimmelberg obtains it sustainably from the mountain slopes around the farm and only harvests at long intervals so that the natural stands can recover. That is exactly why this tea is available only in limited quantities.
The harvest is done by hand. The team walks into the mountains, cuts the plants by hand and then carries the harvested material back down on foot. This kind of harvest takes time and effort, but it suits a tea in which rarity, conservation and origin belong inseparably together.
How wild-harvested Rooibos tastes
Wild-harvested Rooibos tastes mild and soft in the cup, yet at the same time clear and full of character. Typical are the lightly earthy, gently nutty and softly floral notes for which Rooibos is appreciated. Precisely because this tea comes from wild-growing plants, it does not feel generic, but like a particularly calm and original expression of Rooibos.
If you want to experience Rooibos not only as an everyday herbal tea, but as an expression of its place of origin, wild-harvested Rooibos is a rare speciality from the Cederberg.
Directly from Skimmelberg
This Rooibos comes from Skimmelberg in the Cederberg. The farm visibly brings together organic production, nature conservation and careful processing. That matters especially with wild-harvested Rooibos: its uniqueness begins not only in the teabag, but already where the plant grows and how it is treated.
HOT INFUSION:
Pour about 250 ml of 90 °C hot water over one teabag in a cup or teapot and leave to steep for 5–10 minutes, depending on taste.
Enjoy it plain or refine it with a little honey, sugar, milk or a slice of lemon, if you wish. The most pleasant drinking temperature is around 60 °C.
Hot-brewed Rooibos also makes an excellent base for a flavourful iced tea.
